Angelika Strub was born in Stuttgart, Germany and started the violin at the age of five. She studied with Ulrike Abdank at the Stuttgart School of Music and won several first and second prizes in the national competition Jugend Musiziert. At the age of 15, Strub won a scholarship competition that enabled her to perform and record a movement of a violin concerto with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart (RSO). That same year she was also awarded two scholarships to come to the United States to study with Professor Sally O’Reilly at the University of Minnesota as a pre-major. Since then Strub has been state winner of MTNA, finalist of the Schubert Club and Thursday Musical honorable mention winner and MNSOTA grand prize winner. Strub has received mutiple scholarships for master classes in both Europe and the USA. She was also selected twice to represent the pre-conservatory program of her high school, Shattuck St. Mary’s, in Pasadena and Santa Barbara, California with several solo performances that helped the school gain and convince sponsors. Angelika is currently a freshman Violin Performance Major at the University of Minnesota, supported by the top Undergraduate String Scholarship of the University and two other musical scholarships along with one academic scholarship. This summer, Strub will attend the world-renowned Bravo! summer camp at the University of Minnesota where she will study with both Prof. Sally O’Reilly and Yair Kless from Graz, Austria. Afterwards she will participate in the international music festival Oberstdorfer Musiksommer in Germany and will study with Prof. Eckard Fischer on a full scholarship. |
